I think she needs to make the time she spends with them more meaningful. I’m not sure what kind of activities she does with them, but what might lessen the burden and annoyance of being away from their friends is allowing them to take a friend or two with them. Or planning a family trip where some of their friends come as well. Do they know other kids their age in her town? If they’re visiting and sitting around the house or left to only entertain themselves, I can see why it’s less appealing.
